Road closure 2025
In order for Hat Fair 2025 to take place safely, the following road closures will be in place over the weekend (Sat 5 July 2025).
The Broadway and Town Centre Area Road Closures
Saturday 5 July 2025, 08:00 to 20:00
- The Square: From Great Minster Street’s boundary with The Square to a point 79m north-west of its junction with Market Street (level with Boots the Chemist).
Saturday 5 July 2025, 06:00 to 22:00
- The Broadway: From the zebra crossing to the junction with Colebrook Street.
- Colebrook Street: From Junction with Market Lane to Junction with The Broadway.
Parking Suspensions
- Saturday 5 July 2025, 06:00 to 22:00: Parking will be suspended within the road closure area on The Broadway.
Businesses
Access for business deliveries and servicing to The Broadway will be permitted as follows:
- Saturday 5 July 2025 before 08:30 and after 22:00.
Access will always be determined by crowd levels and the final decision to allow access will lie with the Event Manager.
Access for business deliveries and servicing to Market Lanes, Market Street and The Square will be maintained throughout via a signposted diversion route along Colebrook Street.
Buses
The road closure on The Broadway will not affect the bus station. Buses will be allowed access to the bus station at all times.
Taxis
Taxis accessing Silver Hill will not be affected. Taxis and private hire vehicles will be permitted access for the duration of the road closure on The Broadway to the temporary rank located at the bottom of The Broadway, by the King Alfred statue.
