Road closure 2023
In order for Hat Fair 2023 to take place safely, the following road closures will be in place over the weekend (30 June - 2 July 2023).
The Broadway and Town Centre Area Road Closures
12:00 (midday) Friday 30 June – 23:00 Saturday 1 July 2023
- Busket Lane - In its entirety
12:20 - 12: 30 Friday 30 June 2023
- Market Street - From: Junction with Market Lane To: Junction with The Square
06:00 Saturday 1 July – 02:00 Sunday 2 July 2023
- The Broadway - In its entirety
- Colebrook Street - From: Junction with Market Lane To: Junction with The Broadway
Parking Suspensions
Parking will be suspended within all road closure areas.
Parking will be suspended within the road closure area on The Broadway between 06:00 Saturday 1 July – 02:00 Sunday 2 July.
Businesses
Access for business deliveries and servicing to The Broadway will be permitted as follows:
- Saturday 1 July - Before 08:30 and after 00:00
Access will always be determined by crowd levels and the final decision to allow access will lie with the Event Manager.
Access for business deliveries and servicing to Market Lane, Market Street and The Square will be maintained throughout via a signposted diversion route along Colebrook Street.
Buses
As the bus station falls within Saturday's Broadway road closure area, a bus lane will be created to allow buses a dedicated route Into the bus station. This will be operational throughout Saturday 1 July up until 21:00 when the bus lane will be removed and the road closed fully to allow for the evening event in The Broadway. Buses running during this time will access the bus station via the rear entrance on Friarsgate.
