A celebration of street arts and outdoor performance

Hat Fair is Britain's longest running festival of street theatre and outdoor arts - taking place in Winchester in July every year.

Planning is well under way for Hat Fair 2012 and we have some exciting plans.  The dates to put in your diary are Friday 6th July to Sunday 8th July 2012.  Keep watching this space for more information  - and expect the unexpected!

As ever, Hat Fair will continue to uphold its reputation for presenting innovative and beautiful outdoor performances, exiting, unique and highly skilled small-scale shows and an engaging programme of community arts and education.  Woven into the heart of the beautiful city of Winchester, Hat Fair offers three fun filled days jam-packed with hundreds of breathtaking performances from many national and international companies, taking place throughout Winchester's ancient streets. Even in this economically uncertain world, Hat Fair doesn't charge the audience a penny for most performances but you can show your appreciation by putting coins (or notes!) in the artists' hats after the performance.

"One of the great pleasures of Street Arts festivals is that they make you slow down and put the wonder back into everyday life. Wherever you were in Winchester at this year's Hat Fair, you could hear the distant sound of laughter - as if the whole town was smiling together."
